The "homepage banners" are the 2 banners that normally appear below the "download guide in PDF" section (or just after the TOC).
To add a new banner, 2 steps:
Step 1 - create a new banner
- Go to the dedicated form page : Form:Hp-highlight
- Clic on "create a new homepage highlight".
- Fill-in the different parameters and save
Regarding the selection of the image to use:
- a default image is shown, to remind the recommended image size (around 200x270px, saved as png or jpg)
- if the image to use has already been updated in the wiki, just indicate its name (example: HP-highlight-fire-prevention.png)
- you can also upload a new image directly inside this form ("import file"). In the popup, indicate the name you want to give to the image in the wiki (if different from the file name)
- It is recommended to name these images like "HP-highlight-<topic>", e.g. always starting with "HP-highlight-" and finishing by text describing the topic of this banner. This will make it easier to list all banner images
When you "save", this will create the new banner.
This new banner is automatically named based on the Title you chose (ex: Template:Hp-highlight-<title>). It will just replace spaces in your title by "-".
A few comments:
- the description text can include some formating and links (thought it is not recommended to multiply the "call-to-actions", in general)
- the optional 2nd text + button + link is optional (also not recommended)
Step 2 - insert this banner in the homepage
Edit the homepage (in wikitext editor), and update the banner(s) to be used, as shown in the image, e.g. insert the name of the banner template that was created, without the "Template:", between the {{ }}.
